Ryan Roa's 59th Street Window Installations at Bloomingdale's
Exhibition: January 15, 2016-February 7, 2016
Opening Reception: January 15th, 2016
In honor of New York Fashion Week: Men’s, Bloomingdale's has paired with Ryan Roa and gallery nine 5 to showcase pieces from his recent exhibition, Stress Points. Through the use of industrial materials, Roa’s site specific works turn the basic principles of physics into artistic expression. Together they are transforming traditional window displays into fashionable works of art.
Bloomingdale's Flagship located at 59th and Lexington
On display from January 15th - February 7, 2016
The Lexington Avenue windows feature a continuous installation of Roa’s Expanded Steel Relief sculptures created from flowing bands of steel mesh. Roa bends and manipulates industrial steel to challenge the laws of mathematics, forming ribbon like structures. From window to window the designs of Michael Kors, Todd Snyder, Ralph Lauren, John Varvatos, Billy Reid, Ovadia and Sons, Rag and Bone, Marc Jacobs, Eidos, Robert Geller, Suit Supply, and Public School will be incorporated to produce a graceful evolution of modern men’s fashion.
On display from January 15th - January 31, 2016
The Third Avenue windows display Roa’s Plane Drawings – comprised of bungee cords and hardware, these installations create visual geometric statements taking two-dimensional works on paper and bringing them to life in a three dimensional space. Men's clothing line by Theory will display their line constructed of the new fabric, Neoteric, amongst Roa’s dimensional exhibit.
